Edgewater Technology (now Edgewater) was founded in 1992 by Shirley Singleton and David Clancey. Since then, Edgewater has grown from a privately-held, five-person shop into a publicly-traded, technology management consulting firm with more than 320 consulting professionals nationally.

Rooted in Wakefield, Massachusetts, Edgewater evolved from a small company to a 150 person professional services organization before being acquired in 1999 by StaffMark, a publicly-traded international billion dollar staffing organization. For three years, Edgewater remained an operating subsidiary focusing on project-based IT consultancy business under the StaffMark organization. In January 2002, StaffMark changed its name to Edgewater Technology, Inc., as well as its Nasdaq ticker to EDGW, and moved its public company structure from Fayetteville, AR to join Edgewater's corporate office in Wakefield. Edgewater later acquired Ranzal & Associates (now Edgewater Ranzal) in October of 2004 and Fullscope, Inc (now Edgewater Fullscope) in 2010.

Now, Edgewater is one of the largest IT consulting firms in New England, is one of the Boston Globe's top 100 businesses, and is ranked as one of the 500 fastest-growing American stocks on Wall Street.
